Biography

Youjung Jang

Youjung Jang, Pianist

Pianist Youjung Jang is working as a Teaching Associate at Peabody Preparatory. Jang is teaching weekly lessons for beginner and intermediate students, and providing them with piano technique, and music theory knowledge. Jang has been teaching as a private teacher since 2016, she provides weekly lessons not only for high school students but also for non-major advanced students.

 
Youjung Jang is working towards her doctorate in Artistic Excellence Award, at the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University under Benjamin Pasternack. With the cognate for Piano Pedagogy, she currently working as Teaching Associate at Peabody Preparatory under Hyun-Sook Park. Jang earned her master's degree in piano under Benjamin Pasternack and received the Pauline Favin Memorial Prize award from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University. Jang earned her bachelor's degree in piano from the Seoul National University an Academic Excellence Scholarship under Hyoung-Joon Chang. She has participated in masterclasses with Richard Goode, Gilead Mishory, Edward Auer, Young-Hyun Cho, and Thierry Huillet.


Pianist Jang is currently undertaking the beginning of a significant international career. Among her accomplishments, Jang received the Third Prize at the Chopin National Competition in Korea in 2009 at the age of twelve, and the same year she was awarded the Prize at the Choon-Chu National Piano Competition in Korea and also received the Education Chiefs Award. Recently, she got the first prize at the Fanny Mendelssohn International Competition and the American Protege International Competition in New York.
